IIT JEE 2013 Pattern
  • The new pattern of the IIT JEE will be put into practice from 2013.
  • According to this format, two papers will be conducted - MAIN and ADVANCED, each having 30 per cent of the total weightage.
  • The MAIN paper will be conducted in the morning and the ADVANCED in the afternoon.
  • Students appearing for IIT JEE 2012-13 will sit for both papers on the same day.
  • The Time gap between the two papers hasn’t been declared yet.
IIT JEE 2013 Selection
As per the new format, the top 1, 50,000 students (inclusive of all categories) from IIT JEE Main will be allowed to take the IIT JEE Advance paper. The top 20 percentile of board candidates can appear for the exams.

IIT JEE 2013 – Admission
Admissions to the various courses will be based on AIR (All India Rank) in IIT JEE ADVANCED. Universities which accept admission on the basis of AIEEE will be granted as per the JEE Main score. The criteria for the minimum percentage for these two exams are yet to be decided.

IIT JEE 2013 - Counselling
The Counselling and allotment of seats for IITs may be jointly held with NITs.
However, latest updates reveal a few IIT faculties do not wish to change the current IIT JEE pattern. Boards to announce list of top 20% percentile students in a week

NEW DELHI: School Boards across the country on Thursday decided to make available the percentile of top 20 candidates within seven days to help students get a clear picture of the marks required to be eligible for IIT entrance. Reaching a compromise formula, the IIT council had on Wednesday announced that admission to IITs from 2013 would be based only on rank achieved in the advance test and selected candidates would be in the top 20 percentile of successful ones of their boards.

"It was decided that the equivalent percentage of marks for top 20 percentile students would be available (within 7 to 10 days) to students so that they are able to know the percentage of marks that will make them eligible for IIT Entrance," said a statement after the meeting.

To ensure the new format functions smoothly, the boards decided to declare their results before June 10 and will complete the revaluation work within June 30 of the year.
IIT JEE (Advanced) 2013 will have objective questions. The Joint admission board (JAB) has put all the speculation to an end. It has clarified that the format of (JEE)-Advanced paper will be the same as that of IIT-JEE in the last few years. On 14th August, The ministry for human resource development (MHRD) issued a notification on JEE-2013 for admissions.

JEE-Advanced will be held on June 2. The JEE-Advanced paper will only have multiple-choice questions which the students will attempt in two sessions, morning and afternoon. The difficulty level of and the marks allotted to JEE-Advanced tests will be similar to that of previous JEEs. However, the notification is just for 2013.
